Goole Town Council

Goole Town Council is sad to announce the passing of its Mayor, Councillor Josie Head.

Josie passed away on Saturday 13th February after a long and brave battle against cancer.

Josie was elected as both a Town Councillor and East Riding of Yorkshire Councillor at the May, 2011 elections.

She was a passionate campaigner on behalf of Goole and was a founder trustee and Chair of the Victoria Pleasure Grounds Community Interest Company, which she helped establish with the vision of making the ground fit for the 21st century.  She championed its cause on the Towns Deal Board and was thrilled that the project was recently submitted to the Government for funding.  It will be a fitting legacy for her when the project comes to fruition.

Goole Town Councillors and officers would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Josie’s family and friends.

Further details of any post Covid memorial plans will be notified.
