Post Title: Administrative Assistant, Democratic and Financial Services

Grade: SCP9 £23,194 p/a – Full-time, Permanent 37 hours per week* or Part time, Permanent 22 hours per week (Wed-Fri)*

Reports To: Town Clerk/RFO/Deputy Town Clerk

Hours of Work: Full Time -Monday – Friday to include some evenings (approx. 2 per month). Part Time -Wed-Fri – to include some evenings (approx. 2 per month).

Key Accountabilities: The postholder will provide clerical and administrative support to all departments of the Council but will have a specific role in relation to supporting the function of the Mayor and the Democratic processes of the Council.

Working Environment: The postholder will be based at the Goole Town Council offices at Junction, Paradise Place, Goole, DN14 5DL.

  • To prepare agendas for meetings of the Council and its Committees, Sub Committees and Working Parties and to distribute them in accordance with statutory timescales.
  • To attend such meetings and prepare draft minutes for approval.
  • To liaise regularly with Councillors and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • To maintain the Mayor’s diary, responding to all correspondence and invitations for the Mayor to attend events, advising the Mayor of the dates, times, dress code etc, for events and, in the absence of the Mayor, ensuring the Deputy Mayor receives such invitations.
  • Ordering goods and services, including stationery.
  • Updating relevant sections of the Council’s website including minutes, agendas, Councillor details etc.
  • Assisting Finance department with general day-to-day accounting tasks.
