In setting its precept for 2024/25 the Council was mindful of the cost of living crisis facing all residents. The Council faced a number of budgetary pressures in 2023/24 including much higher utilities costs, insurance premiums and inflation reaching almost 12%. Every effort was made to absorb these costs but moving forward this has proved impossible for the coming financial year and increases are essential to maintain a general level of reserves to meet cash flow and unexpected expenditure.
Members were also keen to ensure that residents continue to enjoy the best level of facilities in the East Riding and that they are maintained to a high standard (see bar chart – click here and for a breakdown of facilities/services – click here).
In financial terms the increase will be:-
46p per week at Band A and
69p per week at Band D
